The NFL will conduct six Regional Combines in 2016, beginning on Feb. 13 at the Houston Texans Methodist Training Center in Houston and concluding on March 13 at the New Orleans Saints training facility in Metairie, Louisiana.

NFL Regional Combines, held at NFL facilities around the country, supplement the NFL’s 2016 National Scouting Combine (Feb. 23–29 in Indianapolis). They provide an opportunity for current draft-eligible players who may not have earned an invitation to the National Combine to display their skills before NFL team personnel.

“Combines have long provided draft-eligible players with the forum needed to showcase their skills to NFL teams,” said Matt Birk, the NFL’s director of football development. “I know how important participating in combines was for my NFL career. It is our job at the NFL to provide this opportunity to any college football player that wants to chase his dream of playing in the NFL.”

At the Regional Combines, position players who are eligible for the 2016 NFL Draft and who played college football during the 2015 season are tested and evaluated by NFL scouts. The evaluations, measurements, combine results and videos are collected and entered into a database available to all 32 NFL clubs.

The 2016 NFL Regional Combines are limited to position players only; there will not be a kicker/punter combine held this year.

At the end of the 2015 season, all but one NFL club had at least one Regional Combine player on their rosters, and several teams have found the events especially useful for identifying talent. Pittsburgh has nine Regional Combine players, Tampa Bay has six, and Indianapolis, Miami, the New York Jets and Washington have five each.
