More Than 100 Free Agents to Participate in First NFL Veteran Combine
The NFL will host its inaugural Veteran Combine on Sunday, March 22, at the Arizona Cardinals’ practice facility in Tempe, Ariz. More than 100 free agents will have the opportunity to perform position-specific and timed drills and be evaluated by NFL scouts. The combine results and videos of the workouts will be compiled and shared among all 32 NFL clubs.
The free agents invited range in experience from former starters with NFL teams to players one year out of college with no regular-season NFL experience.
“Combines have long provided draft-eligible players with the forum needed to showcase their skills to NFL teams,” said Matt Birk, the NFL’s director of football development. “The NFL Veteran Combine will give veteran free agents a similar opportunity to work out in front of club personnel in a streamlined process.”
The NFL Veteran Combine consolidates individual veteran free agent tryouts in one location, creating a more streamlined and efficient process for NFL teams and participating players.
This event is one element of the NFL Combine Series, which is a part of NFL Football Development.
