Nineteen current and former NFL players will take part in the 10th annual NFL Broadcast Boot Camp on May 16-19 at NFL Films in Mt. Laurel, NJ. Another six players who graduated from previous Broadcast Boot Camps will participate in an “Advanced Broadcasting” program.
The four-day boot camp, co-directed by the NFL Player Engagement and NFL broadcasting departments, will feature instructors from top broadcast and radio networks, including Big Ten Network, CBS, ESPN, FOX, NBC, NFL Network, SiriusXM, and Westwood One Radio.
Participants will receive hands-on instruction in tape study, editing, studio and show preparation and production meetings, radio production and field reporting. Each player will tape segments as a game analyst and as a field reporter, and will have a chance to serve as a live guest host on SiriusXM NFL Radio.
The “Advanced Broadcasting” curriculum will include one-on-one coaching and feedback from faculty members, as well as a voiceover audition with EA Sports. Players will further develop their skills in play-by-play analysis, radio broadcasting, field reporting and other techniques.
“Over the last decade, this program has resulted in numerous career opportunities for our players in the competitive broadcasting field,” said NFL Vice President of Player Engagement Charles Way. “The boot camp not only provides players with the skills but also the confidence to succeed in the media industry.”

Participants will have the opportunity to earn a guest host spot with one of the league’s United Kingdom broadcasting partners during the 2016 season. Former NFL players Jabari Greer and Ben Hartsock served as studio analysts for Sky Sports in the U.K. one Sunday last season.
More than one-third of the more than 200 players who have taken part in NFL Broadcast Boot Camp have earned broadcasting jobs through their participation in the program.
Players are selected through an application process based on NFL playing experience, essays, and demonstrated interest in media.
